African Mission Projects
Beginning in the late 1990s Chip began traveling with Engineering Ministries International, providing solar PV design in Haiti, Uganda and Liberia. In the early 1990s Chip volunteered for disaster relief for organizations like FEMA and the Red Cross and supported wide-spread hurricane disaster response for Hurricane Floyd (Virginia) and Katrina (New Orleans). In 1996 he again travelled with Engineering Ministries International to Phebe Hospital in Bong County, Liberia to survey and design new electrical generation and repairs to the war damaged generation and distribution facilities. In 1997 he returned to install new generation and distribution panels for the hospital.
In 1999 and again in 2014 he returned to continue an ongoing program of installing power generation to local clinics in Bong County, Liberia. To date he has worked with the Bong County Community Health Department to provide power to 5 clinics in Bong County, with additional systems planned for the remaining 12 clinics. For additional information on our clinic designs and installation please go to our Portfolio section on Pickering Energy Solutions site.
